Recently I played at the wedding reception of Lauren Kotuby and Jason Wilds at the Bessemer Croatian Club.
Lauren and Jason threw a giant bash for their friends and family to celebrate on their big day. They reserved the balcony of the club for all of their friends to sit and eat (and drink) together while their families had the main floor of the room to eat and socialize.
The Croatian Club is a bit of a hidden gem. While not much to look at from the outside, you'd never guess that they'd have such an attractive room for a reception.

If you look over the playlist from the evening you'll find that Lauren and Jason allowed some more traditional wedding music upfront but as the evening progressed the music became significantly newer (and louder!). They chose to include music videos in their package which was a big hit with their guests. There was a great mix featuring Rap, Country and some classic R&B.
Jason and Lauren Wilds had a LOT of BIG PARTY PEOPLE at the reception and everyone was very excited to celebrate and get wild (get Wild? get it? Sorry)

This past Sunday was a beautiful day for the wedding and reception of Allison Templin and Justin Lamperski. Their family and friends all gathered at Phipps Conservatory to celebrate with the happy couple.
Allison and Justin were a lot of fun to work with, they put a lot of work in to create a very special day. The weather could not have been more perfect, while the wind was a bit strong, it really help cool everyone off.
The Garden at Phipps was such a wonderful venue, having the wedding and reception so close together really made it a great time for everyone. The food was provided by Rania Catering (from KDKA's Cooking with Rania) and was completely top notch.
Allison and Justin came up with a great list of music for the entire day... I especially loved their choice of "I Love The Flower Girl" to end the ceremony.

Allison and Justin also ordered my photo montage service, they've been together since High School so it was GREAT to see photos of them together while they were SO young! They were so happy and just couldn't stop looking at each other and smiling. It was truly the perfect outdoor wedding.
I went back to the SNPJ in Enon Valley, PA this past weekend for the wedding of Jennifer Barthen and Mick Minamyer. Jennifer is the daughter of my High School Band director and I was so happy that they asked me to come and play for the big day.
Mick is a band director as well and picked out some awesome and unique music for cocktails and dinner. After that Jenn and Mick were completely open to whatever their guests wanted to hear. The really enjoyed the oldies, country and rock music... and yes, they did the chicken dance (Jennifer's brother FAVORITE!).
Mick performed a Sister Hazel song for Jennifer that he had been practicing in secret for months. It was a great moment.
The SNPJ is always great. Their caterer/coordinator David is on top of everything all night long, makes my job super simple.

Although playing a wedding for someone I've know for 20 years made me feel kinda old, I can't say enough how happy I was to help out on such a great day. Jennifer and Mick are so perfectly matched it was so special to be with them.
This past Sunday I played at the ceremony and reception of Kelsey Ernst and Kevin Fodness. I'll start off by saying that this was the most customized and unique wedding that I've ever played. Kevin was amazingly detailed and provided me with all the music he wanted played during their big day. While I'll admit that at first it was a bit of a daunting task, it really turned out to be a total blast!
First off, I got to play for the ceremony... which I love doing. The bridal party entered to Yael NaÔm - New Soul, which is probably best known as the song from the new Macbook Air commercial, then afterwards they walked back down the aisle to The Barenaked Ladies "If I Had $1,000,000" (I love BNL, probably my favorite band ever).
What is probably most obvious from these photos is that Kelsey and Kevin had a 20's theme to their wedding and many of the guests dressed up in zoot suits and flapper dresses, you could tell that everyone had SO much fun and so a lot of the music played during cocktail hour was upbeat swing, it really kept the mood fun and celebratory.

Kelsey and Kevin completely understood how much fun it can be for both them and their guests by finding unique ways to change up the normal wedding and reception. Not just with the music they chose, but they also by including things their guests would enjoy such as a custom coffee counter and I don't think anyone will ever forget the amazing Ice Cream bar.
Kelsey and Kevin were fun and fearless, and their efforts really paid off big, I'm so happy they involved me so much in their plans, it was a fantastic day!
I was thrilled to get to play at the wedding reception of the new Lynn and Larry Moore. Their wedding was a smaller event held at a private residence in Center Township. I've know Lynn for many years and it was wonderful to see her so happy.
The weather Saturday was amazingly perfect, which was GREAT since this was an outdoor event, it couldn't have been a nicer day. Lynn and Larry had about 40 guests who gathered together to celebrate and although there wasn't a ton of room, people had a great time dancing, they even did the Soulja Boy dance right there in the garage

Lynn and Larry had big smiles on their face the whole day and couldn't have been more easy to work with. They were so relaxed and you could tell they were just happy to have friends and family there to celebrate. It was nice to get outside and be a part of such a wonderful and unique day.
On Saturday I played the wedding reception of Jennifer Stivers & James Bisti at the Heinz History Center in downtown Pittsburgh.
Jennifer and James were completely beaming with joy all night long. I'm sure their cheeks will be sore from all the smiling they kept doing. James spent a lot of time preparing for the reception, not only did he choose all the music for cocktail hour and dinner, he also prepared 3 video slideshows which really wowed their guests.
The Heinz History Center is an amazing venue. The staff was so helpful, they made it so simple to get everything up to the fifth floor I was completely thrilled.

Jennifer & James completely knew their guests tastes and were sure to include lots of great 80's and country music so that everyone got a chance to dance and party. Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs. Bisti.
This past Saturday I played at the reception for Valerie & Craig Rodgers. The wedding was at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Moon Township (which is practically in my backyard). Valerie and Craig were great to work for, they had lots of great input for the music they wanted to use throughout the evening, and their guests really enjoyed dancing all night to a great selection of rock, country and oldies.
I was referred to Valerie and Craig by a great couple that I got to work with last May, Jennifer & Matthew Vaughn. I was so bummed that they couldn't make it to the reception (I heard they were bummed too, so I'll forgive them).

Last night I got to play for the Beaver County Christian School's Spring Dance. I've been playing dances for the school for a long time now... I'm guessing 10 years, but honestly I've lost track. It's always a great time and the young adults from the school are always so much fun. This year's dance was at Seven Oaks Country Club and everything went off perfectly. Every year the kids end up throwing the Principal, Mr. Carson in the air during one of the songs... I give him credit, I'm not sure I could be so trusting!
This Saturday I perform at the wedding reception of Holly & Brian Kuczynski. They had an amazing reception at the SNPJ Alpine Room in Enon Valley, PA. Almost 300 guests were there to celebrate with the newlyweds. I've known Holly & Brian and their family for quite a few years and I was so happy when they chose me to play for their special day.
The SNPJ is a DJ dream, great staff, big dance floor, and lots of room to setup!
Their colors where pink & green and created such a great spring look on all the tables. They had cupcakes on each table instead of having a cake served. I thought they made a great centerpiece. Of course, it made the whole ROOM smell like CUPCAKES!
I also had the great fortune to work with TWO great photographers. I went to High School with Beth Spence and had no idea she was shooting weddings these days, it was great to get to see her. I also got to work with Pamela Kopka who I had worked with before at a wedding last year. It's so great to work with professionals who know how to work under any circumstances, these two were on the ball all night and didn't miss a thing.
The newlyweds had a WIDE variety of music for dancing... line dances, country, pop, rock... something for everyone!
