2 Turntables, A microphone and 3,000,000 records
I started DJing quite sometime ago, while I never used 8-tracks or cassettes, I did begin my career using vinyl records. I'll try not to reminisce too much about the good old days, because I certainly love the advantages of the digital music age. What I miss most was the hunt for great records. Once of my favorite stops used to be RecordRama Sound Archive in the North Hills. Well, I guess the owner of what is considered the largest music collection in the world is selling the whole thing on Ebay. Starting bid is 3 Million Dollars which puts it just outside of my price range, but I do hope he finds a bidder. The collection certainly deserves to be preserved and hopefully continued. I still have a bit of collection of things the would never make it to CD or Itunes, some I'm proud of, some I won't mention. There's just something special about the vinyl experience that makes me glad to have it as part of my history. Check here to learn more about the collection that is for sale.Update - Yes! the collection sold for US $3,002,150.00! Wow!
Update 2 - sadly that bid was bogus. I've heard that there are people who are seriously interested in the collection, hopefully this collection goes to someone who is seriously about preserving the music.
