Lisa and Scott

Earlier tonight I got to play at the wedding reception of Lisa Lutz and Scott Meehan. The reception was held at the SNPJ in Imperial, PA.

meehan.jpg

Lisa and Scott where so much fun to work with, they had a lot of great ideas for their reception, but also left lots of room for their guests to make requests.

Lisa danced more than any bride I've seen in a LONG time. She really helped keep the dancefloor going by grabbing friends and family and taking them with her to the dancefloor.

Schiemer Entertainment Services

Today I launched my new image for my DJ company. I'm very excited about this focus for the company and I love the new look of my logo and website. I've been asked why I'm no longer going to use EricTheDJ so I thought I'd explain that here.

I loved using EricTheDJ, especially for my website address, since it was fun and easy to remember. Unfortunately that name no longer seems to truly represent me or the the full range of services that I offer now and plan to offer in the future. I needed to upgrade to something a little more robust, so today Schiemer Entertainment Services will be picking where EricTheDJ has brought me.

Both SchiemerEntertaiment.com and EricTheDJ.com will both bring you here so feel free to use either address, also I'll be still using my ericthedj email address for quite some time during the transition.

This has been a huge change for me and how I present my business, I'd love to hear your comments, feel free to post them here or email me.

Big changes around the Bend

It's been a pretty wonderful year so far, full of some amazing weddings. I'm on the verge of something else pretty amazing and thought I should give people a head's up here. As you can tell, I'm about to release a whole new image for my DJ company that will include a new name, new logo, new website... new new new. While this won't actually change any of the services I offer or the quality of what I deliver, it will be a little different from what you see now when you visit www.ericthedj.com.

Over the next week or so you'll see a shift from EricTheDJ to Schiemer Entertainment. The name reflects a new direction for my company as I try to expand the services and quality that I offer. This won't mean that I'm hire a crew of DJ's to send out to events. If you hire Eric, you still get Eric, guaranteed.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send them along, I'd love to hear what you think.

Amy & Ryan

Last night I had the pleasure of playing at the wedding reception of Amy Zdan and Ryan Bartoe at the St. Florian Hall in Wintersville, Ohio.

Amy and Ryan were a fun couple and really had a good time choosing music for the entire reception. It was really clear how important family was to both of them and they worked really hard to include everyone in their special day.

Bartoe-(37-of-37).jpg

If you take a look at their playlist you can see that they included music for every age group. Disco, Rap, Rock and even some stuff for the younger generation... it was great that everyone got a chance to take the dancefloor and enjoy the music.

It was a beautiful evening full of great moments and great music. Ryan and Amy were such a joy to work with and I'm glad I was able to help out on their special day!

Amie & Greg

This past Saturday I played at the reception of Amie Hack and Greg Donahue at the Olde Stonewall Golf Club in Ellwood City. It was a beautiful day for them to get married on the deck overlooking the golf course.

Amie and Greg totally understood how to make their day unique, and really applied their ideas in a variety of unique and fun ways. They included some live music in their day as well as hiring my services. They had a harpist and violinist for their ceremony which was beautiful. Amie's 88 year old grandfather, Ray, performed songs during the Anniversary dance while her father Dennis accompanied him on the guitar. Then as a special surprise, Johnny Cash showed up! (ok, it was actually Pastor Rick Roberts from the ceremony) Johnny (Rick) had a whole band with him and entertained everyone with selections including "Jackson" and "Ring of Fire".

I got a chance to entertain everyone too. Amie and Greg gave allowed me to do whatever I needed to keep the dancefloor busy. We covered a lot of ground from Rock to Rap and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time dancing.

The day was packed full of such great and memorable events that I'm sure everyone will be talking about this reception for years to come. My favorite moment was watching the newlyweds dance their first dance which they had worked out some special choreography to make it special, it was a sweet moment where you could just see how much they belong together. The entire evening went really smoothly, but even I felt that it went by really fast. Amie and Greg were a complete joy to work with, and both of them and their families went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and appreciated. I'm so glad I was able to help them create a day that went so perfectly.

April & John

On Saturday I played at the ceremony and reception of April Riggins & John Ford held at the Mayernick Center in Avonworth Community Park. I love the opportunity to participate in the ceremony and they had a beautiful day to exchange their vows outdoors.

The Mayernick Center is a beautiful venue and an excellent staff. The center's coordinator, Meghan, did an amazing job keeping everything running smooth all day, made it so pleasant for everyone.

April and John picked some great music for the entire day and their friends and family really seem to enjoy the wide variety.

April and John were completely relaxed and it was clear that they were out to have a great time with their guests. Everyone had an awesome time celebrating with the newlyweds, it was a pleasure for me to be there and be a part of their wonderful day.

Megan & Bob

Just a little while ago I played the wedding of Megan Ellis and Bob Lewis at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Moon Township.

Bob and Megan had requested something unique for their reception. They asked that I setup my projector screen and a video camera and I projected images from around the room all night long up on the big screen. This made it so that everyone could see a different angle of the 'action' from anywhere in the room. I think it was a great idea and worked really well. Since we were already setting up the projector and screen, Bob & Megan also hired me to make a photo montage using their photos. I love making these montages and getting to see all the photos of the couple as they grew up and fell in love.

The Crown Plaza offers some nice options for a reception. We were able to meet there a week ahead of time to determine the best layout for the room which I think made everyone feel better! (including me!)

Megan and Bob had some great music ideas for dinner and cocktail hour, and they also gave me a lot of freedom to work the room and get people dancing.

I had such a great time working with Bob and Megan, they worked hard to make sure they're guests would have a fun and unique experience. All their hard worked paid off and they had an amazing reception.

Lauren & Jason

wilds 052.jpg
Recently I played at the wedding reception of Lauren Kotuby and Jason Wilds at the Bessemer Croatian Club.

Lauren and Jason threw a giant bash for their friends and family to celebrate on their big day. They reserved the balcony of the club for all of their friends to sit and eat (and drink) together while their families had the main floor of the room to eat and socialize.

The Croatian Club is a bit of a hidden gem. While not much to look at from the outside, you'd never guess that they'd have such an attractive room for a reception.

If you look over the playlist from the evening you'll find that Lauren and Jason allowed some more traditional wedding music upfront but as the evening progressed the music became significantly newer (and louder!). They chose to include music videos in their package which was a big hit with their guests. There was a great mix featuring Rap, Country and some classic R&B.

Jason and Lauren Wilds had a LOT of BIG PARTY PEOPLE at the reception and everyone was very excited to celebrate and get wild (get Wild? get it? Sorry)

New Poll: Mobile Wedding Planning?

Ok, so Apple just announced that they'll be releasing a new iPhone on July 11 and it's got me thinking how many people out there are trying to access the client area on the website using some sort of mobile device. (or, if you haven't tried, would this interest you at all?) Please take a moment and click your answer on the poll question on the right hand side of this page. Even if you're not a current or past client, let me know if you think this is something you'd like.

(oh, and while I'm a total Apple fanatic, I do not own an iPhone... yet)

Allison and Justin

2546082576_64d90367d8.jpg

This past Sunday was a beautiful day for the wedding and reception of Allison Templin and Justin Lamperski. Their family and friends all gathered at Phipps Conservatory to celebrate with the happy couple.

Allison and Justin were a lot of fun to work with, they put a lot of work in to create a very special day. The weather could not have been more perfect, while the wind was a bit strong, it really help cool everyone off.

The Garden at Phipps was such a wonderful venue, having the wedding and reception so close together really made it a great time for everyone. The food was provided by Rania Catering (from KDKA's Cooking with Rania) and was completely top notch.

Allison and Justin came up with a great list of music for the entire day... I especially loved their choice of "I Love The Flower Girl" to end the ceremony.
