I'm very excited about this focus for the company and I love the new look of my logo and website. I've been asked why I'm no longer going to use EricTheDJ so I thought I'd explain that here.

I loved using EricTheDJ, especially for my website address, since it was fun and easy to remember. Unfortunately that name no longer seems to truly represent me or the the full range of services that I offer now and plan to offer in the future. I needed to upgrade to something a little more robust, so today Schiemer Entertainment Services will be picking where EricTheDJ has brought me.

Both SchiemerEntertaiment.com and EricTheDJ.com will both bring you here so feel free to use either address, also I'll be still using my ericthedj email address for quite some time during the transition.

This has been a huge change for me and how I present my business, I'd love to hear your comments, feel free to post them here or email me.

Big changes around the Bend

It's been a pretty wonderful year so far, full of some amazing weddings. I'm on the verge of something else pretty amazing and thought I should give people a head's up here. As you can tell, I'm about to release a whole new image for my DJ company that will include a new name, new logo, new website... new new new. While this won't actually change any of the services I offer or the quality of what I deliver, it will be a little different from what you see now when you visit www.ericthedj.com.

Over the next week or so you'll see a shift from EricTheDJ to Schiemer Entertainment. The name reflects a new direction for my company as I try to expand the services and quality that I offer. This won't mean that I'm hire a crew of DJ's to send out to events. If you hire Eric, you still get Eric, guaranteed.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send them along, I'd love to hear what you think.

Amy & Ryan

Last night I had the pleasure of playing at the wedding reception of Amy Zdan and Ryan Bartoe at the St. Florian Hall in Wintersville, Ohio.

Amy and Ryan were a fun couple and really had a good time choosing music for the entire reception. It was really clear how important family was to both of them and they worked really hard to include everyone in their special day.

If you take a look at their playlist you can see that they included music for every age group. Disco, Rap, Rock and even some stuff for the younger generation... it was great that everyone got a chance to take the dancefloor and enjoy the music.

It was a beautiful evening full of great moments and great music. It was a beautiful day for them to get married on the deck overlooking the golf course.

Amie and Greg totally understood how to make their day unique, and really applied their ideas in a variety of unique and fun ways. They included some live music in their day as well as hiring my services. They had a harpist and violinist for their ceremony which was beautiful. Amie's 88 year old grandfather, Ray, performed songs during the Anniversary dance while her father Dennis accompanied him on the guitar. Then as a special surprise, Johnny Cash showed up! (ok, it was actually Pastor Rick Roberts from the ceremony) Johnny (Rick) had a whole band with him and entertained everyone with selections including "Jackson" and "Ring of Fire".

I got a chance to entertain everyone too. Amie and Greg gave allowed me to do whatever I needed to keep the dancefloor busy. We covered a lot of ground from Rock to Rap and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time dancing.

The day was packed full of such great and memorable events that I'm sure everyone will be talking about this reception for years to come. My favorite moment was watching the newlyweds dance their first dance which they had worked out some special choreography to make it special, it was a sweet moment where you could just see how much they belong together. The entire evening went really smoothly, but even I felt that it went by really fast. Amie and Greg were a complete joy to work with, and both of them and their families went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and appreciated. I'm so glad I was able to help them create a day that went so perfectly.

Venue: Olde Stonewall Golf Club in Ellwood City
Photographer: Diane Adrian Photography

April & John

On Saturday I played at the ceremony and reception of April Riggins & John Ford held at the Mayernick Center in Avonworth Community Park. They asked that I setup my projector screen and a video camera and I projected images from around the room all night long up on the big screen. This made it so that everyone could see a different angle of the 'action' from anywhere in the room. I think it was a great idea and worked really well. Since we were already setting up the projector and screen, Bob & Megan also hired me to make a photo montage using their photos. I love making these montages and getting to see all the photos of the couple as they grew up and fell in love.

The Crown Plaza offers some nice options for a reception. We were able to meet there a week ahead of time to determine the best layout for the room which I think made everyone feel better! (including me!)

Megan and Bob had some great music ideas for dinner and cocktail hour, and they also gave me a lot of freedom to work the room and get people dancing.

I had such a great time working with Bob and Megan, they worked hard to make sure they're guests would have a fun and unique experience. Jennifer is the daughter of my High School Band director and I was so happy that they asked me to come and play for the big day.

Mick is a band director as well and picked out some awesome and unique music for cocktails and dinner. After that Jenn and Mick were completely open to whatever their guests wanted to hear. The really enjoyed the oldies, country and rock music... and yes, they did the chicken dance (Jennifer's brother FAVORITE!).

Mick performed a Sister Hazel song for Jennifer that he had been practicing in secret for months. It was a great moment.

The SNPJ is always great. I'll start off by saying that this was the most customized and unique wedding that I've ever played. Kevin was amazingly detailed and provided me with all the music he wanted played during their big day. While I'll admit that at first it was a bit of a daunting task, it really turned out to be a total blast!

First off, I got to play for the ceremony... which I love doing. The bridal party entered to Yael NaÔm - New Soul, which is probably best known as the song from the new Macbook Air commercial, then afterwards they walked back down the aisle to The Barenaked Ladies "If I Had $1,000,000" (I love BNL, probably my favorite band ever).

What is probably most obvious from these photos is that Kelsey and Kevin had a 20's theme to their wedding and many of the guests dressed up in zoot suits and flapper dresses, you could tell that everyone had SO much fun and so a lot of the music played during cocktail hour was upbeat swing, it really kept the mood fun and celebratory.

Click here to see the playlist from the reception.

Pre-CeremonyThe Opener	Duke Ellington
Pink Cadillac	Indigo Swing
As Long As I'm Singin'	The Brian Setzer Orchestra
Don't Get Around Much Anymore	Dr. John
Put A Lid On It	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Hot In Harlem	Indigo Swing
Baltimore	Nina Simone
Blue Angel	Squirrel Nut Zippers
My Baby Just Cares For Me	Indigo Swing
For Louise	Lee Curtis
Memory Of You	Indigo Swing

Ceremony
New Soul	Yael NaÔm
If I Had $1,000,000	Barenaked Ladies

Cocktail Hour
The Interlocutor	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Mr. Pinstripe Suit	Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Reet, Petite & Gone	Indigo Swing
Do It This Way	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Suits Are Picking Up The Bill	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Zoot Suit Riot	Cherry Poppin' Daddies
Stop Drop And Roll	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Barron Plays The Horses	Indigo Swing
Rockin' In Rhythm	Duke Ellington
Way We Ought To Be	Indigo Swing
West Indian Pancake	Duke Ellington
Let's Live It Up	The Brian Setzer Orchestra
On The Wrong Side Of The Railroad Tracks	Dr. John
This Old House	The Brian Setzer Orchestra
I Can't Stop It	Indigo Swing
Mambo Swing	Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Introductions
Money - Indigo Swing

Dinner Music
Choo Choo Ch'Boogie	Indigo Swing
Baby Wants A Diamond Ring	Squirrel Nut Zippers
The Dirty Boogie	The Brian Setzer Orchestra
The Boogie Bumper	Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Don't Fix It	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Jumpin' Jack	Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
The Indigo Swing	Indigo Swing
It Ain't You	Squirrel Nut Zippers
Ad-Lib On Nippon	Duke Ellington
Go Daddy-O	Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Do What? Their wedding was a smaller event held at a private residence in Center Township. I've know Lynn for many years and it was wonderful to see her so happy.

The weather Saturday was amazingly perfect, which was GREAT since this was an outdoor event, it couldn't have been a nicer day. Lynn and Larry had about 40 guests who gathered together to celebrate and although there wasn't a ton of room, people had a great time dancing, they even did the Soulja Boy dance right there in the garage

Click here to see the playlist from the reception.

Cocktail Hour
Everything	Michael BublÈ
Mack the Knife	Bobby Darin
Come Fly With Me	Michael Buble
Save the Last Dance for Me	Harry Connick Jr.
L O V E (Bonus Track)	Michael Buble
When You're Smiling	Dean Martin
You Make Me Feel So Young	Frank Sinatra
Hallelujah, I Love Her So	Ray Charles
Tony Bennett - Put On A Happy	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Chris Montez - The More I See	Various - Pop music, Vocal
For Once in My Life	Harry Connick Jr.
Some Kind of Wonderful	Peter Cincotti
Our Love Is Here To Stay	Rod Stewart
Beyond The Sea	Robbie Williams
Matt Monro - My Kind Of Girl	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Mel Torme - Strangers In The N	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Summer Wind	Barry Manilow
Almost Like Being in Love	Natalie Cole
I'm Your Man	Michael Buble
I've Just Seen a Face	Holly Cole
Henry Mancini - Something For	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Oscar Peterson - Night Train	Various - Jazz, Blues, Funk
Miami Beach Rhumba	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Champagne Time	Lawrence Welk

Dinner Music
Champagne Time	Lawrence Welk
Day-O	Doug Walker
Jamaican Farewell	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Spanish Eyes	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Is This Love	Doug Walker
Yellow Bird	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Red, Red Wine	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Under The Boardwalk	Doug Walker
The Hammer	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Mary Ann	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Stand By Me	Doug Walker
Island In The Sun	Tropical Shores Steel Drum Band
Dock Of The Bay	Doug Walker
That's All	Michael Buble
Come Away With Me	Norah Jones
In The Still Of The Night	Carly Simon
I Can See Clearly Now	Holly Cole
Diana Krall - Look Of Love

First Dance
I Promise (Wedding Song)	CeCe Winans

Dancing
Save the Best for Last	Vanessa Williams
Always and Forever	Heatwave
The More I See You	Carly Simon
I Will Be Here for You	Michael W. I'm sure their cheeks will be sore from all the smiling they kept doing. James spent a lot of time preparing for the reception, not only did he choose all the music for cocktail hour and dinner, he also prepared 3 video slideshows which really wowed their guests.

The Heinz History Center is an amazing venue. The staff was so helpful, they made it so simple to get everything up to the fifth floor I was completely thrilled.

Click here to see the playlist from the reception.

Cocktail Hour
The Way You Look Tonight	Steve Tyrell
L-O-V-E	Nat King Cole
Make Someone Happy	Jimmy Durante
What a Wonderful World	Louis Armstrong
Let's Fall in Love	Steve Tyrell
You Don't Know Me	Ray Charles
Don't Know Why	Norah Jones
When I Fall in Love	Nat King Cole
Love and Marriage	Frank Sinatra
Tupelo Honey	Van Morrison
Can't Take My Eyes Off of You	Frankie Vali
This Will Be	Natalie Cole
Let My Love Open the Door	Pete Townshend
God Only Knows	The Beach Boys
Unforgettable	Nat King Cole

Introductions
Beautiful Day	U2

First Dance
Someone Like You	Van Morrison

Cake Cutting
You're My Best Friend	Queen

Dinner Music
The Way I Am	Ingrid Michaelson
Be Mine	David Gray
Come Away With Me	Norah Jones
Walking in Memphis	Marc Cohn
Bubbly	Colbie Caillat
The Luckiest	Ben Folds
You're Beautiful	James Blunt
Somewhere Only We Know	Keane
Somewhere Over the Rainbow	Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Sweetest Thing	U2
Can't Help Falling in Love	UB40
Dance All Night	Ryan Adams
Finally	Fergie
Accidentally in Love	Counting Crows
Airplanes and Butterflies	The Clarks
These are the Days	Van Morrison
Making Memories of Us	Keith Urban
High	James Blunt
Feels Like Home	Chantal Kreviazuk
If I Could Hold You Tonight	The Bodeans
Mandolin Rain	Bruce Hornsby
Hallelujah	Rufus Wainwright
I Can See Clearly Now	Holly Cole
Rainbow Connection	Peter Cincotti

Bridal Dances
I Loved Her First	Heartland
My Wish Rascal Flatts

Dancing
When You Say Nothing At All	Alison Krauss
Girls Just Want to Have Fun	Cyndi Lauper
Old Time Rock & Roll	Bob Seger
Ain't Too Proud to Beg	The Temptations
Respect	Aretha Franklin
Shout (Parts 1 & 2)	The Isley Brothers
Brown Eyed Girl	Van Morrison
Bless The Broken Road	Rascal Flatts
Lost in this Moment	Big & Rich
Mountain Music	Alabama
Stayin' Alive	Bee Gees
Play That Funky Music	Wild Cherry
Billie Jean	Michael Jackson
I Will Survive	Gloria Gaynor
You Dropped A Bomb On Me / Party Train	The Gap Band
Jump On It	Sir Mix-A-Lot
Beautiful in My Eyes	Joshua Kadison
You're My Only Girl (Jenny) [#]	Barry Manilow
Come on Eileen	Dexy's Midnight Runners
I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)	The Proclaimers
Jessie's Girl	Rick Springfield
Brick House	Commodores
We Are Family	Sister Sledge
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough	Michael Jackson
You Should Be Dancing	Bee Gees
Piano Man	Billy Joel
This Years Love	David Gray
Save the Last Dance for Me	Michael BublÈ

Jennifer & James completely knew their guests tastes and were sure to include lots of great 80's and country music so that everyone got a chance to dance and party. The wedding was at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Moon Township (which is practically in my backyard). Valerie and Craig were great to work for, they had lots of great input for the music they wanted to use throughout the evening, and their guests really enjoyed dancing all night to a great selection of rock, country and oldies.

I was referred to Valerie and Craig by a great couple that I got to work with last May, Jennifer & Matthew Vaughn. I was so bummed that they couldn't make it to the reception (I heard they were bummed too, so I'll forgive them).

Click here to see the playlist from Valerie & Craig's wedding.

Cocktail Hour
Come Fly With Me	Michael Buble
Save the Last Dance for Me	Harry Connick Jr.
You Make Me Feel So Young	Frank Sinatra
Mack the Knife	Bobby Darin
Hallelujah, I Love Her So	Ray Charles
Tony Bennett - Put On A Happy	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Rainbow Connection	Peter Cincotti
Chris Montez - The More I See	Various - Pop music, Vocal
For Once in My Life	Harry Connick Jr.
I've Just Seen a Face	Holly Cole
Our Love Is Here To Stay	Rod Stewart
When You're Smiling	Dean Martin
Beyond The Sea	Robbie Williams
Matt Monro - My Kind Of Girl	Various - Pop music, Vocal
L O V E (Bonus Track)	Michael Buble
Mel Torme - Strangers In The N	Various - Pop music, Vocal
Some Kind of Wonderful	Peter Cincotti
Summer Wind	Barry Manilow
Almost Like Being in Love	Natalie Cole
I'm Your Man	Michael Buble

Introductions
Chicks Dig It	Chris Cagle
The World	Brad Paisley

Cake Cutting
Wink and a Smile	Harry Connick Jr.

Dinner Music
A Whole New World	John Tesh
Can You Feel the Love Tonight? I've been playing dances for the school for a long time now... I'm guessing 10 years, but honestly I've lost track. It's always a great time and the young adults from the school are always so much fun. This year's dance was at Seven Oaks Country Club and everything went off perfectly. Every year the kids end up throwing the Principal, Mr. Carson in the air during one of the songs... I give him credit, I'm not sure I could be so trusting!

<

Congratulations to the 2008 BCCS seniors!!!

Holly & Brian

This Saturday I perform at the wedding reception of Holly & Brian Kuczynski. They had an amazing reception at the SNPJ Alpine Room in Enon Valley, PA. Almost 300 guests were there to celebrate with the newlyweds. I've known Holly & Brian and their family for quite a few years and I was so happy when they chose me to play for their special day.

The SNPJ is a DJ dream, great staff, big dance floor, and lots of room to setup!

Their colors where pink & green and created such a great spring look on all the tables. I went to High School with Beth Spence and had no idea she was shooting weddings these days, it was great to get to see her. I also got to work with Pamela Kopka who I had worked with before at a wedding last year. It's so great to work with professionals who know how to work under any circumstances, these two were on the ball all night and didn't miss a thing.

The newlyweds had a WIDE variety of music for dancing... line dances, country, pop, rock... something for everyone!

Click here to see the playlist from Holly & Brian's wedding.

Cocktail Hour
Come Fly With Me Michael Buble
Save the Last Dance for Me Harry Connick Jr.
You Make Me Feel So Young Frank Sinatra
Mack the Knife Bobby Darin
Hallelujah, I Love Her So Ray Charles
Tony Bennett - Put On A Happy Face
Ol' Mac Donald Frank Sinatra
Rainbow Connection Peter Cincotti
Chris Montez - The More I See
For Once in My Life Harry Connick Jr.
I've Just Seen a Face Holly Cole
Our Love Is Here To Stay Rod Stewart
When You're Smiling Dean Martin
Beyond The Sea Robbie Williams
Matt Monro - My Kind Of Girl
L O V E (Bonus Track) Michael Buble
Mel Torme - Strangers In The Night
Some Kind of Wonderful Peter Cincotti
Summer Wind Barry Manilow
Almost Like Being in Love Natalie Cole
I'm Your Man Michael Buble
Henry Mancini - Something For
Oscar Peterson - Night Train

Introduction
Let's Get It Started Black Eyed Peas
ESPN Presents The Jock Jam Various Artists

Bridal Party Dances
Me And You Kenny Chesney
My Wish Rascal Flatts
You're Gonna Miss this Trace Adkins
It's Your Song Garth Brooks

Dinner Music
That's All Michael Buble
Come Away With Me Norah Jones
Diana Krall - Look Of Love
Til There Was You Rod Stewart
Only You Harry Connick Jr.
The More I See You Carly Simon
One For My Baby Robbie Williams
My Blue Heaven Harry Connick Jr.
Somethin` Stupid (Feat Nicole Robbie Williams
Sarah Vaughan - Someone To Watch Over Me
I Can See Clearly Now Holly Cole
Ella Fitzgerald - Misty Blue
In The Still Of The Night Carly Simon
Rosemary Clooney - In The Cool
Night and Day The Temptations
Wink and a Smile Harry Connick Jr.
(Love Is) The Tender Trap Frank Sinatra
Save the Best for Last Vanessa Williams
Always and Forever Heatwave
Keeper Of The Stars Tracey Byrd
Amazed (Captain Mix) Lonestar
Shower Me With Your Love Surface
I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing Aerosmith
Do You Dream of Me? For me it's been Michael Buble's "Call Me Irresponsible". This came out last year and it's still playing all the time at my house, and when I setup my equipment at every wedding. Who would have thought you could do a remake of "Wonderful Tonight" that wouldn't be totally awful. A lot like a modern, younger Harry Connick Jr., Michael Buble does a lot of standards (Rat Pack style) but with a lot of great energy. I've been dropping in these songs during dinner and cocktail hour whenever I can, if you haven't heard this disc yet it's definitely worth a listen.

Ready 4 The Weekend

Getting ready to launch into wedding season and I thought it would be fun to post some new music. I'm curious to see what everyone really thinks about the either dreaded or beloved Chicken Dance. It probaby won't be your most important vote this year, but it is your chance to speak your mind and let the world know how you feel about this hot button issue! The poll question is located on the right hand side of the main page.

Talk to me!

I just added a great new feature to the website. You can chat with me really easily about your event anytime I'm online (which is a LOT!). There's a link to the new chat service on the homepage, right under my picture. You can also find this link on the contact page. The chat sessions are handled by Google, but there's no need to create an account or anything complicated, just click the link whenever it says I'm available and I'll be happy to talk to you about your event.

2 Turntables, A microphone and 3,000,000 records

I started DJing quite sometime ago, while I never used 8-tracks or cassettes, I did begin my career using vinyl records. I'll try not to reminisce too much about the good old days, because I certainly love the advantages of the digital music age. What I miss most was the hunt for great records. Once of my favorite stops used to be RecordRama Sound Archive in the North Hills. Well, I guess the owner of what is considered the largest music collection in the world is selling the whole thing on Ebay. Starting bid is 3 Million Dollars which puts it just outside of my price range, but I do hope he finds a bidder. The collection certainly deserves to be preserved and hopefully continued. I still have a bit of collection of things the would never make it to CD or Itunes, some I'm proud of, some I won't mention. There's just something special about the vinyl experience that makes me glad to have it as part of my history. Check here to learn more about the collection that is for sale.

Update - Yes! the collection sold for US $3,002,150.00! Wow!

Update 2 - sadly that bid was bogus. I've heard that there are people who are seriously interested in the collection, hopefully this collection goes to someone who is seriously about preserving the music.

EricTheDJ 2.0

Well I'm happy to report I've been using my time during the DJ 'off-season' very productively. Between helping out with the new baby, I've been working on developing my new DJ website. I hope you find it easy to use and hopefully error free! (I had to learn a bit of programming to make it work the way I wanted... so no guarantees) Please let me know what you think or if you have any problems. I have to say thanks to my AWESOME support and beta testers Tara & Bethany, it would have taken me years without them.
